Background: This study aims to assess the effectiveness of interventions designed to increase adherence to micronutrient supplements in pregnancy, addressing a significant barrier to successful implementation of these programs.
Methods: The systematic review will search multiple databases for studies on interventions to improve pregnant women’s adherence to micronutrient supplementation, following Cochrane Collaboration Methodology. It includes randomized and nonrandomized controlled studies, with two reviewers independently selecting abstracts, extracting data, and assessing bias. Results will be pooled using statistical methods, with analysis of heterogeneity and publication bias.
Discussion: The findings will identify the most effective strategies to increase supplement adherence, providing valuable insights for clinicians and policymakers involved in prenatal care and nutrition interventions. This research could significantly impact the design and implementation of micronutrient supplementation programs for pregnant women.
